This opportunity is for full-time (40 hours per week) Intake Clinician.  The position offers full benefits and a convenient schedule of weekdays 3pm - 11pm plus every other Saturday and Sunday 3pm - 11pm.

Job Duties:

1. Receive inquiry calls from patients, families, emergency department, physicians, therapists and other referral sources, providing indicated services to include crisis counseling, referral and facilitation of admissions and transfers.
2. Provide face-to-face assessments of patients and families to determine the appropriate level of care to safely treat the patient.
3. Provide patients with an appropriate disposition which may include admission to the Old Vineyard BHS inpatient unit, transfer to another facility, or referral to an appropriate outpatient service to include day treatment, partial hospitalization and outpatient psychiatry/therapy.
4. Coordinate admissions to OVBHS or other facilities via consultation with physicians and unit nursing staff.
5. Coordinate transportation to other facilities for patients transferred for disposition.

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree in counseling or related field.
• Licensed professional (LCSW or LCSWA, LCMHC or LCMHCA, LMFT or LMFTA).
• One year inpatient psychiatric assessments/treatment experience with adults and/or adolescents preferred.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
• Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform Non-Violent Crisis Intervention physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
