What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTERPRETER (Mandarin) position at UHS?
Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a Mandarin Interpreter (PRN) to join our team.
The (Mandarin) Interpreter provides direct translation services to a non-English speaking patient who requires the utilization of translation services. The translator will work one on one with the patient to ensure that they can effectively communicate during their treatment stay at Fairmount Behavioral Health. Translator will only be responsible for translation services if they do not meet the regular requirements to perform the duties of a psychiatric technician.

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma required; college credits/college degree in an area relevant to language and/or psychology preferred.
Certifications: Certified Medical Interpreter or Certified Healthcare Interpreter. If not certified, must pass competency evaluation at hire and annually.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working with a psychiatric patient/behavioral health population preferred.
Shifts: Typically 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Adjustments may be made due to clinical needs.
