What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEAD RECREATION THERAPIST position at UHS?
We are looking for a qualified Lead Recreation Therapist to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals. The Lead Recreation Therapist develops and implements a recreational therapy treatment plan for each patient that is age appropriate in accordance with recommendations of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The Lead Recreation Therapist conducts the activities of recreation therapy in order to improve functioning and independence and to provide recreation resources and opportunities for all patients with a focus on improving health and well-being. The Lead Recreation Therapist is responsible for evaluating the needs of the patient under The Vines Hospital’s care and formulating the initial and subsequent treatment goals. Responsibilities include assessing patients within two (2) days of admission and complete evaluations of progress. Additionally, the Lead Recreation Therapist facilitates recreational therapy groups, organizes leisure programs and supervises Recreation Therapy staff.

Qualifications
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy and certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (CTRS). Five (5) years experience with a minimum of two (2) years experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting with an adult population preferred. Prior supervisory experience required and working knowledge of recreation therapy programming.
