LEAD SCHOOL BASED THERAPIST

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges.  The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. 

The Lead School Based Therapist provides clinical and therapeutic support to the students in schools in School District of Manatee County (SDMC) through a collaborative contract with Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center (PSBHC).  Therapists will be tasked with traveling to assigned district schools in order to provide one-on-one student counseling, advising and therapeutic services within the school setting. Provides individual and group counseling on a daily basis to students with an emphasis on skill enhancement and emotional health. Will provide supportive care and guidance for students to achieve success and break down barriers to academic performance and assist in resolving social and emotional stressors limiting student performance. Will assist in facilitating teacher/administrator understanding of emotional/social/trauma issues effecting student classroom and academic performance.  Will work collaboratively with students, teachers and administrators to implement solutions as indicated through individual or family based therapy. Must be able to produce quality daily chart notes regarding student progress, and write weekly and monthly reports as well as narrative notes, and family support group notes and progress assessments.  Will be responsible and accountable for upholding high standards for therapeutic interventions including tracking student progress toward goals and active involvement of the family and other support systems in student success.  May make recommendations for students to access other therapeutic services or interventions as needed or as clinically indicated.

LEAD DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Lead all School Based Therapist (SBT) in their job responsibilities
• Responsible for interviewing and hiring of all SBT; working with the HR Department
• Responsible for annual evaluations for all SBT
• Provide necessary training for all new hire SBT
• Send monthly SBT Logs to CFO/Finance Department
• Communicate with all SDMC personnel
• Support all SBT with all job-related needs
• Perform weekly audits to ensure all logs and CABA data is completed
• Collect and combine CABA data for all School Based Therapists (SBT)

SKILLS:

Ability to implement evidence-based practices and possesses strong clinical skills
Excellent communication, organizational and teamwork skills are necessary
Knowledge of Play Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy
The ability to work with persons from diverse cultures and backgrounds
Knows, understands and adheres to the organizational policy related to the patient’s rights for confidential care.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Qualifications: 

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, Psychology, or related counseling field. 
Competent clinical skills, clear communication skills and knowledge of community resources. 
Must have at least one year of experience working with children and adolescents.

Preferred Qualification: 

LCSW, LMHC, LMFT or Registered Intern eligible in aforementioned field

Valid Florida Drivers License
Level 2 Background Check
Pre-employment Drug Screening

Work Location and Hours:

Days and hours of work follow the Manatee County School District school schedule. 

Travel is required. Therapist will be assigned to schools.
