Certified Lifeguard (Water Safety Instructor)

Provo Canyon School is a 24/7 secure behavioral health treatment center for adolescents ages 12 through 17. We coach, teach and mentor students who have psychiatric disorders. Our goal is to provide treatment that results in positive changes, allowing these youth to return to their families and communities.

YEAR ROUND/Part-Time Position:  Will work 2-3 hours per day, 2-4 times per week depending on need

Pay Rate: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour based on years of lifeguard experience and credentials 

Work Location:  4501 N. University Ave, PROVO

Your Role and Objectives:

• Serve as a positive role model for students and staff while providing safety, security and supervision during pool activities.
• Crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation - training provided
• Use positive verbal skills, mentor & coach students on appropriate behavior during pool activities.
• Monitoring chemical contents and water quality insuring they meet health department standards and maintainomg lifesaving equipment.
• Ensure the pool area is locked and secure at all times.

 Your Qualifications will include:

• Current Lifeguard/WSI certification required.  Also required to have current certification in First Aid & CPR.  EMT certification preferred, but not required. 
• Minimum of one year lifeguard experience REQUIRED. 
• Must have the ability to deal with students and staff in a firm, diplomatic and professional manner.  
• Must be AT LEAST 21 years of age or older (NO EXCEPTIONS) and able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
