Job Summary:
Laboratory Manager oversees the operations of the Laboratory . The Lab manager must be highly organized and level headed to ensure that all operations run smoothly. Responsible for managing staff and testing not only on FED sites but also in the Main Core Lab which consists of Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Point of Care Sections of the Laboratory in accordance with personnel job descriptions, maintaining a high standard of work and responsible for timely and accurate reporting on all shifts. Remains cognizant of accrediting agency requirements and maintains manuals, logs and other documents to the required standards of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. Developes new Process improvement Projects to enhance performance in the Laboratory . Prepares new and revises current Policies and Procedures for Main Core Lab. Assists in implementing new Technologies on new equipment and new methods. Is aware of and implements fire and safety regulations. Aids in developing and implementing all policies related to Quality Improvement, Quality Control, and the handling and disposal of hazardous materials within these sections. Shows leadership, delegates responsibility, establishes accountability among his/her staff, participates in and encourages continuing education. Performs regular in-services, orientates new staff, performs annual evaluations and prepares work schedules, maintains inventory and staffing within budgetary limitations for Lab. Performs some bench work as needed in accordance with Policy and Procedures. Is required to supervise the entire laboratory and assists and reports any issues or concerns to laboratory Director and Laboratory Medical Director. May be asked to attend laboratory related committee meetings and to perform other such duties as required by the Laboratory Administrative Director. As needed will help with interviews for prospective staff to fill needed positions. To be successful as the Laboratory manager multitasking and making plans ahead to forsee any roadblocks for the team. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed by ASCP or equivalent as a Technician in all clinical areas.
- B.S. in Medical Technology or graduated with an associates degree in applied science. Masters degree perferred.
- At least 5 years clinical laboratory experience in any one or more of the mentioned laboratory sections (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank or Microbiology) required.
- Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to DHL’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
