Position Summary: The OR/SURGICAL TECH (STUDENT) performs a variety of Surgical Services duties including equipment cleaning & sterilization, supply and stocking of items used in surgery. Sets up sterile instrumentation for surgery cases and scrubs for surgery cases. After evaluation of competency, the Surgical Scrub Technician Student is allowed to perform all duties of a Scrub Technician under the supervision of a CST and RN. Performs all work in accord with the mission, vision, and values of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- The Scrub Technician Student, must be actively enrolled in formal training school to obtain certification.
- Enrollment or in an accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program.
- High school diploma or GED required
- BLS and annual rectification required
Experience:
- Three quarters of a year of clinical experience demonstrating progress towards completion of educational requirements for Certification.
- Employee must be clinically trained in surgical scrubbing.
- Must be clinically evaluated for competency by the director of Autry
- TechnologyCenter, and manager of surgical services at SMRMC. Special Qualifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Typing and basic computer skills preferred.
