Regional Director - Outpatient Clinics for Psychiatric & Substance Abuse Services

Atlanta Market

 

Our four behavioral health hospitals in Atlanta (all affiliated with Universal Health Services) provide a broad continuum of outpatient mental health & substance abuse services for children, adolescents and adults. The outpatient clinics are located in various parts of the city throughout the greater Atlanta market. There is also one outpatient program located in nearby Athens, Georgia. Our entire staff is trained in treatment models of social learning and positive reinforcement that promotes positive behaviors. Outpatient programs teach life skills and coping mechanisms intended to enrich patients’ lives.

 

Outpatient treatment is provided by licensed clinical therapists, nurses, psychiatric technicians and financial counselors. Initial assessments are completely confidential and provided at no charge. All outpatient programs offer free breakfast, lunch and snacks for patients.

 

About the role:

The Regional Director – Outpatient Services provides the leadership and strategic planning for all outpatient facilities in the Atlanta Market, ensuring the delivery of clinical programs that meet the needs of the facilities, community and each facility’s performance goals and objectives. The Regional Director will work closely with all the Clinical Program Directors of each outpatient facility. Responsibilities include the overall administrative processes of budgetary control and management systems for all services offered at all facilities. This position will also coordinate with the Regional Business Development Market Director to promote program growth and referral source customer service.  This position contributes to the facility’s strategic planning objectives, educational and quality improvement efforts while providing guidance to directors at each outpatient facility.

 

This work location for this position will adopt a hybrid model; a combination of remote and onsite/on campus work will be required.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Business, Healthcare Administration or related field. Master’s Degree – Business, Healthcare Administration or related field highly preferred.
  • Experience: 8 – 10 years’ experience in business healthcare management required. Leadership experience in psychiatric or behavioral health field preferred.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Strong advanced knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agencies’ regulations
    • Demonstrated superior leadership abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of patient rights standards
    • Strategic planning skills; record of adherence to deadlines.
    • Knowledge of all applicable regulatory and state laws regulating mental health care facilities
    • Prefer knowledge of the Metro-Atlanta and outlying areas behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources.  Ability to travel between multiple facilities.
    • Prefer knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles and age-specific programming and practices.
    • Advanced knowledge of P&L interpretation/management and how to develop and implement actions to ensure program profitability.
    • Ability to increase revenues and income before inter-company allocations, maintain or decrease the effective bad debt rate, achieve the margin percentage, and implement operating cost controls in the areas of staffing, supplies, and purchased services.
    • Working knowledge of HR policy and procedures along with experience in staff management, recruitment, and retention across multiple sites.
    • Strong knowledge of budget development and yearly strategic planning.
    • Experience in multiple site operations and leadership preferred.
    • Recruit physicians and staff in targeted specialty areas, coordinate medical staff participation in new hospital ventures and targets, develop new areas of medical care to offer at the hospital.
    • Oversight of marketing development efforts and program growth.
    • Accountable for creating an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organizations mission, vision and values.
    • Operational leadership of clinical and non-clinical departments including but not limited to:  Admissions, Business Development, Process Improvement, Finance, Clinical Services, Regulatory Affairs that effectively drive patient care outcomes
    • Ensure hospital quality metrics are achieved through sound clinical processes following accreditation and regulatory agency guidelines.
