Clarion Psychiatric Center offers inpatient treatment for adults with moderate to severe psychiatric problems, inpatient crisis stabilization for children and adolescents, and a Partial Hospitalization Program for school-aged children.  Our recently expanded 112-bed inpatient program has 4 units.  For over 30-years, Clarion has provided the community a compassionate and respectful therapeutic environment with an emphasis on strong teamwork.

Clarion Psychiatric Center is a STAR LRP-approved facility. STAR LRP is Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program, and is intended for individuals working in either a full-time substance use disorder (SUD) treatment job that involves direct patient care in a county where drug overdose death rates exceed the most current national average overdose death rate per 100,000 people, as reported by the CDC; or Mental Health Professional Shortage Area. As such, staff with 6 or more years of service would be able to have their student loans paid off (up to $250,000). Employees engaging in direct patient care qualify.

Job Description: Provide therapy to individuals and/or groups relative to treatment issues and goals. Serve as a member of hospital committees. Perform group therapy and assessment of various patient groups to determine chemical dependency treatment needs. Serve as part of the treatment team.

Education – Masters Degree in Social Service field is required.

License/Certification – Not Required

Experience - Inpatient/outpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Providing individual and/or group therapy.

Knowledge/Skills- Family dynamics, casework, interpersonal relationships and regional social policy.

Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit-setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors, CPR training. Communication skills and ability to teach patients.

Supervision Exercised- None

Supervision Received – Director of Clinical Services/ PI

General Working Environment - Hospital setting. Some risk involved in the event of the presence of an aggressive / violent patient. Works in a well lighted and ventilated setting, is subject to frequent interruptions, is involved with the patients and personnel throughout designated unit under varying conditions and circumstances. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B Viruses

Physical Requirements – Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be able to walk and stand for long periods. Able to participate in crisis prevention intervention. The Physical Requirements described herein are representative of those, which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.
