What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at UHY LLP, Certified Public Accountants?
A great UHY client is seeking a Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting/US GAAP skills, experience with QuickBooks Desktop, and budgeting/forecasting experience.
The Controller position is 100% onsite Monday through Friday. This is a client direct hire position.
Controller Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly accounting, preparation of financial statements and analysis, and evaluation of financial results, relating financial performance to financial plans appropriately.
- Develop, maintain, and conduct scenario analysis for budgeting and forecasting.
- Establish routine and robust processes to forecast and monitor cash flow and cash balances.
- Develop strategies to maximize working capital.
- Collaboratively manage the financial and administrative staff with clear guidance and instruction.
- Participate in meetings, providing support and analysis for key decisions as a member of the management team.
- Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with all members of the management team and office staff.
- Identify business opportunities, cost control opportunities, and other internal control or financial concerns, and develop appropriate strategies to address and mitigate each.
- Construct and monitor reliable internal controls over financial reporting and systems.
- Participate in selecting employee benefit plans, with an emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage, with periodic reviews.
Controller Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field required
- Minimum 5 Plus years’ experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager
- 5 years of full charge monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting, financial statement preparation and reporting
- Mathematical aptitude as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer software knowledge required: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- QuickBooks experience preferred
