Position Summary
UI Charitable Advisors is seeking an Entry-Level Copywriter to create engaging, editorial content across a variety of platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with our team to produce clear, compelling copy that educates our donors and referral partners, highlights our impact, and supports our broader philanthropic initiatives.While you don’t need extensive experience in financial services or charitable planning, a willingness to dive into new topics, conduct research, and maintain consistency in brand voice is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Create editorial content. The goal is to add as much value as possible for our donors. We want to share the success stories of our donors, financial advisors, and nonprofit partners, as well as create other engaging content that is value-additive.
- A marketing email is 10% value creation, 90% value extraction.
- An editorial email is 90% value creation, 10% value extraction.
- focus on storytelling
- Treat the content as the product, not as marketing for another product
- Unique insights Unique voice Unique packaging = Unique content
- Pick topics that make our Market of 1 better at their job
- Mix of both short and long form content
- Deeply researched with the goal that the content that is deep enough & insightful enough such that a reader feels the need to bookmark & reference later. Good example: Lenny Rachitsky: "How the biggest consumer apps got first 1,000 users" - Lenny interviewed hundreds of founders, identified patterns, and broke down the seven strategies consumer apps used to grow.
- Create “aha” moments, stories over direct education
- Highlight the success stories of our donors, financial advisors, and nonprofit partners.
- Highlight DAFs, Complex Assets, International Giving, General Field of Interest Funds
- Communicate with team members, clients, and partners to gather information and refine content.
- Accept feedback gracefully and use it to strengthen final deliverables.
- Maintain an organized library of written materials for future reference and updates.
- Assist with proofreading and editing tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (or near completion) in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Relevant internships, coursework, or volunteer experience in writing, editing, or marketing is a plus.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or philanthropic work is beneficial but not required.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Basic understanding of digital marketing channels (social media, email, etc.).
- Willingness to learn about philanthropic planning and financial services
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and openness to feedback
