This is a full-time position at our UIHC location on the main medical campus. This is a Monday- Friday, day shift position that includes working rotating weekends. Store hours are below :
Sunday : 10 : 30 am-2 : 30 pm
Monday : 9 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm
Tuesday : 9 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm
Wednesday : 9 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm
Thursday : 9 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm
Friday : 9 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm
Saturday : 10 : 30 am-2 : 30 pm

Position Summary
UI Home Solutions is seeking an internally driven and reliable Medical Service Representative (MSR) that will provide support and coordination for home-going Durable Medical Equipment (DME) within the University of Iowa Hospitals and outlying clinics (UIHC). The ideal candidate will have critical thinking, detail-oriented skills while demonstrating initiative. The MSR will work one-on-one with physicians, customers, employees, and management to coordinate all activities in accordance with all legal and UIHC standards.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure all documentation is acquired as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures, and compliance programs.
- Verifies insurance and obtains prior authorizations as needed.
- Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication and a professional relationship with patients, physicians, co-workers, contractors, and outside facilities.
- Processes internal / external orders from the hospital(s), such as affiliated clinics and facilities.
- Utilizes Electronic Medical Record (EMR), reference guides, and other resources to process order(s).
- Utilizes payor policy information located on websites and initiates payor changes in a timely manner to maintain knowledge of compliance with payor and regulatory standards.
- Addresses patient concerns / satisfaction, while performing / assisting with patient education.
- Assist with inventory control such as resupplying stock.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store and associated activities such as handling cash flow and other payment methods in the billing software accurately.
- Provide support to train / onboard new staff and act as a new hire ambassador.
- Supports the DME Supervisor duties; attends and participates in meetings.
- Responsible to ensure end of day reconciliations are complete and accurate.
- Ability to exercise initiative, and techniques to solve problems in a variety of situations.
