Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Specialist provides comprehensive physical therapy services, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and outcome assessment, within their clinical expertise. They are responsible for maintaining advanced clinical skills, supervising students, contributing to staff education, and promoting quality practice. Additionally, they participate in departmental and community initiatives, handle administrative tasks for compliance, and serve as a resource and leader within the team, often acting as backup for management. Moreover, they have advanced certifications, participated in professional activities such as publications or presentations, and have actively engaged in departmental advancement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care time (actual time with patients, may vary from scheduled) - includes all direct interventions and patient education that is integrated as a part of treatment session.
- Indirect Patient Care (IPC) - time spent in chart review, documentation (direct patient care documentation as well as any other documentation related to patient care), scheduling, attending team or family meetings and rounds (documented as clinic time), ordering equipment, assisting other staff.
- Assist other team members, the department or organization with identified projects.
- Resource clinically for other therapy staff.
- Academic and Clinical Teaching (giving in-services) Administration (daily sheets, case presentations, staff meetings, block meetings, committee meetings).
- Other related duties as assigned. (Alternative productivity expectations may be determined within this classification based on fluctuating needs of the department).
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Illinois from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation at time of employment
- Three (3) years (36 months) of professional clinical experience with a minimum of two years in their clinical specialty area
- At least 1 year experience in the Emergency Department
