ENGINEERING DATABASE MANAGER | TIER III (MIELS):
Bowhead is seeking Engineering Database Managers to support a customer in Stafford, VA. Support for the contract will consist of program management; logistics; asset management; engineering; customer service; research and development of new capabilities; test and evaluation; manpower, training, and personnel; new equipment fielding and training; financial management; information assurance; cybersecurity; and 24X7 enterprise services operations and sustainment.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database systems on prem and in the cloud.
- Monitor database performance and optimize for high availability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
- Perform regular database backups and ensure recovery procedures are tested and effective.
- Manage database user access and permissions, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and failures.
- Lead database design and architecture planning for new projects or system upgrades.
- Collaborate with application developers to optimize database queries and performance.
- Manage database replication, clustering, and failover setups to ensure high availability.
- Ensure data integrity through validation, consistency checks, and quality assurance practices.
- Plan and implement database migrations and upgrades to newer versions or platforms.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide database-related support and guidance to developers, system administrators, and other teams.
- Conduct regular database audits to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Evaluate and implement database management tools and technologies to improve performance and functionality.
- Manage database licensing and ensure adherence to vendor agreements and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Ten (10 ) years of practical experience, in database management.
- DoD 8570 / 8140 compliance or information assurance certification commensurate with technical objectives and services required within the task order.
- Applicable software or hardware training and certifications commensurate with the technical objectives, services required, and IT environment specified within the task order.
- Cloud certified.
- Preferred: Professional commercial database certification.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level with Counter Intelligence Polygraph. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
