UMIAQ Design is seeking a survey assistant to collaborate on survey projects across the state of Alaska. The UMIAQ Design survey team is actively working on many exciting long term design projects. The survey assistant will work and interact with a small team of professionals in a collaborative office setting located in Anchorage, Alaska.

UMIAQ Design is seeking a survey assistant to collaborate on design projects across the state of Alaska. The UMIAQ Design survey team is actively working on many exciting long term design projects. The architectural intern will work and interact with a small team of professionals in a collaborative office setting located in Anchorage, Alaska.
Essential Functions
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals involved in the design process• Review designs to ensure they meet quality standards• Collaborate with engineering teams to determine project requirements and design parameters• Travel with the survey team to collect engineering data• Assist drafting in the office using AutoCAD
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:• Strong design skills and ability to communicate design ideas clearly• Attention to detail, motivated, and self-reliant• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations• Arctic or northern design experience is desirable• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Critical thinking
Required Experience:• 1 year of survey experience or enrolled in a college degree program in business or engineering

• Ability to travel via small aircraft or other small motorized vehicle.
Qualifications
Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.Candidates must pass a background check in order to fill this position.
