Chicago, IL Part Time
POSTED ON 4/14/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/14/2025
Position Summary
The UIC School of Law, Chicago's only public law school, is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Adjunct Teaching Associates to join our team and teach courses in the Juris Doctor program. This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position offering an opportunity to contribute to the intellectual development of future legal professionals.
Adjunct faculty are part-time positions, normally appointed for one semester at a time, and teach one or two courses in an academic year. Teaching associates teach or co-teach courses in the law school’s Academic Achievement Program, including JD 401 Expert Learning, an introductory course for first-year students, and three bar preparation courses: LAW 531 Bar Essay Writing, LAW 532 Writing for the Practice of Law, and LAW 530 Legal Fundamentals Review and Test Taking Skills.

Courses are taught online or in person at our downtown Chicago campus, during the day or evening. A learning management system is used to post syllabi and other materials and communicate with students. Teaching associates are required to participate in orientation and training sessions and to comply with academic and institutional policies.

To be considered for an adjunct teaching associate position, candidates should submit an online application, including a PDF copy of a resume or curriculum vitae; names and contact information (preferably including telephone numbers and email addresses) for three references familiar with the applicant's practice or teaching credentials; and a cover letter or other document identifying the specific courses or programs at the School of Law for which the applicant wishes to be considered.

Candidates are asked to refer to the information posted at https://go.uic.edu/lawadjuncts before submitting an application. Specific courses and programs for which the School of Law anticipates hiring adjunct teaching associates in the near future are posted on that page. Individuals with at least five years of law practice experience should submit an application for the Adjunct Professor position, not the Adjunct Teaching Associate position.
