Position Summary
This position serves as the coordinator for the recruitment, advising, review, and admission for traditional international undergraduate programs, special international contract programs, and UIC Global /Shorelight International Direct and associated accelerators. This position is responsible for ensuring the Office of Admissions is meeting all international undergraduate admissions standards and contractual obligations related to Shorelight.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Coordinate the daily operations for all international admissions to traditional undergraduate programs including first year, transfer, and readmission.
• Coordinate the daily operations of UIC Global admissions. Develop the workflow for the international accelerator programs.
• Specialize in and oversee projects related to UIC Global admissions in conjunction with campus partner Shorelight.
• Coordinate workflow with UIC Global, the Office of International Services (OIS), scholarship & sponsorship programs, Programs for International Partnerships (PIP), AITS and ACCC with regards to business technologies, Tutorium in Intensive English (TIE), UIC Extended Campus, Honors College, and any other area that has a cross-functional interest in international student admissions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on best practices in the international recruitment and admissions fields and credential evaluation.
• Manage an array of changing duties on a day-to-day basis by balancing the demands of daily priorities in Admissions against inquiries from UIC Global, Shorelight, the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) and other stakeholders.
• Ensure the Office of Admissions is meeting all contractual obligations related to Shorelight. This includes assurance of data integrity in the Slate & the Banner information system, timely review of materials and issuance of decisions, daily communication with the UIC Global team and OIS, vetting of international credentials to meet UIC standards, coordination of redirects between accelerator students and direct entrants, and completion of other duties as the program evolves.
• Monitor and direct UIC Global to ensure all UIC admissions standards and ethical recruitment practices are upheld.
• Utilize the University Enterprise Data Warehouse to develop, update, analyze and present data according to changing demands throughout the year. Synthesize data for other campus offices and make projections and statistical analysis.
• Build relationships with students, parents, high school counselors, teachers, international partners, and administrators providing admissions advice relative to the international recruitment and admissions processes.
• Communicate with college and departmental personnel to promote and support the University’s overall international recruitment and admissions efforts including the prospect pool, application status, admissions requirements and policy, deadlines, and final decisions. Develop relationships with department and college staff to foster a strong working relationship between units.
• Review and collaborate on college admissions criteria to perform a holistic review of applicants. Capable of independent decision-making based upon holistic review.
• Research and review of transcripts and international course work to determine transferability and eligibility for admissions. Make final determinations on complex and escalated cases.
• Organize and participate in international student recruitment and yield activities, including yield receptions, open houses, and college and high school fairs. Develop promotional and marketing plans including social networks, list serves, and email campaigns. Organize and conduct virtual events for international applicants.
