Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric ophthalmologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Ophthalmology for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
- Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
- Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
- Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
- Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Ophthalmology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
- To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
- To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
- Direct and conduct his/her own research in Pediatric Ophthalmology
- Provide care for patients with Ophthalmologic diseases admitted to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
- Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
- Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.
