Position Summary
Supporting student competitors in the selection and or preparation of performance scripts. Oversee practice sessions (one on one, group sessions, workshops and seminars) for competitors Travel with the team to tournaments both in/out of state as well as overnight competitions. Serve as judges for the team at tournaments. Support the planning, execution and hosting of the Annual Chicago Swing Speech Tournament Support the planning, execution and hosting of high school workshops and/or tournaments hosted by UIC Forensics. Support the recruitment and retention of students to the UIC Forensics program.
Duties & Responsibilities
Attend various staff and committee meetings.
Analyze and work within provided budgets, maintain accurate accounting of events costs, and manage vendor needs and requirements.
Assist with FSL community event planning and management, specifically developing timelines to meet special event objectives, monitoring to assure milestones are on track and reporting is on time, and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Develop supplies checklist for each event, customizing checklist template based on individual event needs.
Management of event logistics, including: the development of the site plan, oversight of setup/breakdown materials, management of person-power needs, activities coordination, supply delivery, and other activities as required.
Plan and conduct pre- and post-event briefing sessions for all participating staff and student leaders. Compile results from the event, perform preliminary evaluation of performance to goals, and provide results to supervising staff.
Based on evaluation and event briefing sessions, recommend improvements for the future as appropriate.
Advise student leaders in meeting agreed upon outcomes.
Other duties as assigned, including program benchmarking and research.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
