Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) seeks a board-certified, full-time family medicine physician for an Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Family Medicine position to serve as medical director of Correctional Medicine. This position involves direct patient care (10-20%) at our county jail and serves as the medical director of Correctional Medicine, overseeing a robust full-time medical enterprise at a 1,000 inmate facility and juvenile detention center. Additional duties in our academic department include clinical care and faculty supervision of medical students and residents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings with opportunities in education, research and leadership.
Duties & Responsibilities
Direct clinical patient care at the county jail (1-2 half days per week).
Provide leadership and oversight of our full-time medical practice at the county jail and juvenile detention center (1 half day per week).
Faculty supervision for clinical care provided by family medicine residents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings (4-6 weeks per year of inpatient supervision and resident precepting (1-2 half days per week)).
Direct clinical patient care and management of a personal panel of patients (2-3 half days per week).
Presentation of didactics to support medical education.
Advising and mentoring of residents.
Participation in resident and faculty recruitment activities.
Precepting medical students on their family medicine clerkship in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
Participation in scholarship activities to include dissemination.
Participation in various committees related to the mission of the College of Medicine. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
