Medical Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high frequency, ultrasound waves in order to produce images of the areas scanned. Employees in positions allocated to this level of the series administer standard ultrasound scans of patients and perform other basic duties related to the examination
Duties & Responsibilities
Performs ultrasound scans within the Mammography/Breast Imaging section providing complete and accurate imaging for diagnostic assessment
Positions patients for scans; sets up and adjusts equipment for each scan.
Prepares supplies, instruments and equipment and assists physicians during related procedures such as breast biopsy
Selects and adjust equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit and print optimal images
Confers with radiologist to determine if additional images or information is required
Utilizes the radiology information system to process patient information and billing
Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patients and schedule of same day add-on patients
Provides technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.
Performs other related duties as assigned Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
