Position Summary
The Ocularist is responsible for fitting, fabricating, inserting, and maintaining custom ocular prosthetics for patients and providing custom prosthetic eye care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Fabricate and fit ocular prostheses for individuals who have lost an eye or eyes due to trauma or illness.
- Take impression of the eye socket, shape plastic shell, paint iris and fit ocular prostheses.
- Insert and maintain ocular prosthetics
- Teach the patient on the proper care, cleaning, removal and insertion of prostheses
- Record patient charts and appointments
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Work in cooperation with anaplastologist to fabricate ocular prosthesis for an orbital prosthesis.
