The Division of Pediatric Critical Care, Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill an Open Rank Faculty (Pediatric Critical Care) position. Rank/Tenure will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Division provides inpatient coverage in the Children’s Hospital at the University of Illinois, a part of UI Health, and is the primary teaching hospital of the University of Illinois Chicago and includes all pediatric medical subspecialties and a broad range of pediatric surgical subspecialties.
The Children’s Hospital at the University of Illinois houses a 6 bed PICU and is located in the Illinois Medical District, 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The unit cares for medical, pediatric surgical, and subspecialty surgical patients, including craniofacial/plastic surgery, oromaxillofacial surgery, ENT, and orthopedic surgery patients. It is also a major transport and transfer referral center for metropolitan Chicago and surrounding area.
UI Health and Cook County Health have formed a Pediatric Partnership for Care since 2021. The Division shares coverage responsibility between the two institutions. The Cook County Health John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital houses a 10 PICU, which supports a Level 1 trauma service and pediatric burn service. Coverage averages 1 week every 4 months with reciprocal coverage provided by the 3 physician Pediatric Critical Care division at Cook County Health.
Participation in the educational program for medical students, residents, fellows, and nursing and ancillary staff is essential. There are excellent opportunities for clinical and basic sciences research, educational and administrative activities.
