UIC is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to join our College of Applied Health Sciences IT team. Under minimal supervision of the Directors of Information Technology, the position manages endpoint devices within the College of Applied Health Sciences. The primary responsibilities include system administration, software packaging and deployment, operating system patching, and server management. This position will interact with the end users within the College and must possess excellent spoken and written communication skills, in addition to the required technical abilities listed below. This position requires thinking strategically in structuring the end user's computing environment. The position serves as a technical expert to staff and students, configures and deploys new equipment, and provides full support and management of all department devices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- System Administration – Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and workstations using Microsoft Intune. Maintaining the deployment of software and drivers and pushing out updates to Windows machines using Microsoft Intune and Apple devices using JAMF. Establish and maintain software documentation.
- Infrastructure Maintenance – Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across Windows-based environments.
- Security & Compliance – Configure and monitor security software solutions, including but not limited to Splunk, Windows Defender, and Qualys.
- User Support & Collaboration – Provide Level 2/3 technical support for end-users and the AHS IT Helpdesk. Collaborate with the AHS IT Helpdesk and the UIC Technology Solutions group to work on projects and initiatives.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
