Youth Counselor (Weekends included)

Youth Counselor position description:

Uinta Academy is located at the base of the beautiful Wellsville Mountains in Cache Valley and is a residential mental health school focused on the treatment of an all-female population. Applicants with a medical background are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Mandatory rotating weekend position

The Youth Counselor help teenage girls in a therapeutic setting as they progress on their healing journey. Will work with the young women in a home-like environment to monitor for safety and well-being. Will be modeling and teaching coping skills to our clients who are struggling emotionally. The Youth Counselor will work in a wide variety of therapeutic interventions, e.g., home management, recreation therapy, day and overnight trips, and equine and group therapies.

We are looking for an individual that is able to work in a compassionate manner, and actively participate in the ongoing care of the whole person.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to pass a background check.
• Have an excellent driving record.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities in a fast moving, challenging environment.
• Must work two weekends per month (Friday, Saturday, and Sundays).

Qualifications:

• 21 years of age
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Eligible to work in the USA
• Able to pass background check
• Able to pass motor vehicle record check
• Current Utah driver's license
• Works well within a team
• Strong problem-solving aptitude
• Good judgement
• Safety-oriented
• Firm, healthy boundaries
• Must be able to complete responsibilities under various weather conditions such as snow, ice, and heat
• Must be able to adhere to physical demands of walking, running, lifting, hiking, and animal related activities

Schedule:

Mandatory rotating weekend position

Part-time and full-time positions available

Rotating schedule with some mornings, and some PM shifts

Typical weekday schedules are :

AM (6:45 am -2:45 pm) and

PM (2:45 pm -10:45 pm)

Typical weekendschedules are:

AM (8:00 am -3:45 pm) and

PM (3:45 pm -11:30 pm)
