What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fixed Route Bus Operator position at Uintah Basin Association of Governments?
POSITION SCOPE:
Responsible for safe vehicle inspection and operation in the service area.
JOB DUTIES:
The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the Driver position, but rather a general description of some of the essential functions of this position.
· Be a leader and an example to all other employees.
· Report to work on time and in proper uniform as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
· Maintain a strong attendance record.
· Communicate effectively
· Possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with a passenger endorsement and a valid Medical Examination Card.
· Operate a passenger motor vehicle.
· Maintain good rapport with the general public and all employees.
· Follow company safety and operational rules and procedures.
· Report safety issues to the Operations Manager.
· Perform pre-trip inspections on various vehicles as needed.
· Safely secure passenger wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
· Ensures the Bus/Van is maintained with oil changes, tune-ups, and tires are in good condition when needed.
· Ensures that all paperwork is completed before and after the shift, such as, trip sheets, maintenance logs, and safety inspections.
· Ensures that the Bus/Van is always clean and washed when needed.
· Performs other related duties as required for the betterment of the BTA.
· Clean up garage bay (Roosevelt).
o Dump garage bay trash can weekly (or sooner if needed).
o Sweep / spray garage bay weekly.
o Clean up & organize shelving daily. (Make inventory easier)
o Pick up extension cords, hoses, or any other potential trip hazards
· Tool usage
o Make sure to return tools to their proper storage container and location

The Driver should have the following skills/abilities, among others:
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language.
- Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Assimilate information quickly and accurately.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Varied Environment – This is a driving position that will be subject to bending, stooping, standing, high noise levels and vehicle fumes. This position may also be subject to occasional light lifting (up to 20 pounds).
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience and Qualifications:
o High School diploma
o 1 years related full-time driving experience (required)
§ 3 years related full-time driving experience (preferred)
o First Aid Training and / or CPR Training
o *Must have a current Utah CDL with passenger endorsement in good standing; OR be able to obtain one in an agreed upon timeframe.
· Knowledge and Skills:
o Some knowledge of public and government organizational structure.
o Scheduling and routing skills
o Some vehicle maintenance skills
o Compassion and willingness to serve
o Clean driving record
o Ability / experience assisting disabled individuals on and off the bus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.02 - $23.77 per hour
