Summary:
University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) is seeking an experienced individual to lead and expand our Men's and Women's Tennis program as the head coach. The successful head coach must be able to articulate a vision to develop the program to compete for conference championships while maintaining its strong academic achievement.
The coach develops, manages, implements, and advances the men's and women's tennis program within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and the Department of Athletics. The Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruit highly successful tennis student-athletes who are both physically and academically talented, who represent UIS and Department of Athletics with good character, and who strive to graduate from UIS.
Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and game strategies inherent in the highest level of competitive play; developing UIS tennis student-athletes to successful competitive achievements.
Responsible for fundraising, marketing, promotion, and alumni and community engagement of UIS tennis and the Department of Athletics at UIS, including building a base of support for UIS tennis.
Responsible for scheduling, organizing, and conducting practices and competitions, including team travel.
Responsible for a strategic vision for success and administration of UIS men’s and women’s tennis programs including budgeting, strategic planning, organizing, and reconciling tennis accounts to ensure expenditures compliant with budget.
Identify, manage, mentor, and oversee ethical and talented UIS tennis assistant coaching staff.
Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance and support the UIS tennis student-athlete experience.
Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; including submission of all compliance forms, adherence to all compliance policies and procedures, and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules education sessions.
Monitor academic performance and progress of men’s and women’s tennis student-athletes.
Coordinate tennis tournaments and camps/clinics in an effort to increase local and regional exposure of UIS and UIS tennis.
Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled; hold office hours on campus in The Recreation and Athletic Center, and complete required NCAA and UIS training.
