Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
Primarily day shift, Monday through Friday. Typically requires working every 6th weekend. You will also be required to work one major winter and summer holiday.
Job Summary
Kentucky Children’s Hospital – Provides Pharmaceutical Care to pediatric patients in an inpatient hospital and infusion center settings. Reviews, interprets, and verifies written and electronic orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed for admitted patients. Reviews, interprets, and verifies outpatient therapy plans for the pediatric infusion clinic patients. Maintains inventory and records of narcotics and other forms of drugs. Completes waste audits on outpatient infusion medications. Ensures the appropriate purchase or other procurement of infusion medications. Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. This includes medication reconciliation, review of patient profiles, utilizing pharmacist authority, and provision of pharmacokinetic consults. Provides direction and supervision of pharmacy students, interns and technical staff, and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products. Involved in medication safety, quality improvement projects, and the coordination of care for high-cost infusion therapies for pediatric patients.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

PharmD degree preferred. ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
