About UKA
UKA introduces the kaiseki haute culinary tradition of a multi-course, intricate Japanese dinner to a modern-day palate with a refined omakase menu that seeks to capture a particular essence of time, place, and the very best of Japanese cuisine. At UKA, the kaiseki small plates tradition comes to life not only via the considered, interlocal menu but through the experience itself, conveying a delicate and memorable approach to quality, inspiration, and flavor, and engaging all of the senses along the way. It’s an homage to the beauty of Japanese culinary culture and its many facets and a voyage through its timeless customs. In August 2024, UKA was one of the seven new restaurants awarded a coveted Michelin Star for the 2024 edition of Michelin Guide California.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced and passionate assitant chef (or kitchen assistant *depending on qualifications) to work alongside Chef Yoshitaka Mitsue in offering an exquisite Japanese kaiseki dining experience. Please see below for requiements.
- Has 5 years experience working in the kitchen, using knives, either preparing and/or cooking dishes *preferrably at a Japanese cuisine.
- Has great commuincation skills (in-person) and hospitality
- Is a team player, can collaborate with others proactively and positively
- Can work under flexible schedules (includes evenings, weekends, and holidays)
- Can set up and close the kitchen area if/when needded
Work hours
- The restaurant is open from Wed-Sun, between 6pm-10:30pm
- Members are asked to come in, accordingly to their roles, to prepare for operating hours above.
Compensation
