SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of an assigned site administrator, the Coordinator of Campus Supervisors I coordinates the duties and day-to-day activities of the campus supervisors, monitors student conduct, acts as a resource to administration in the enforcement of school regulations, and establishes and maintains public safety and student discipline in all non-classroom areas of the campus through interaction with students, staff, members of the public and law enforcement personnel. This position differs from the Coordinator of Campus
Supervisors II position which is located at a high school campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Establishes areas to be monitored and supervised.
- Establishes time schedules and outlines responsibilities of Campus Supervisors.
- Enforces parking and traffic regulations.
- Provides for the removal of unauthorized persons from campus; may escort and monitor students under contentious conditions.
- Monitors school conduct within school buildings and on campus during the school day.
- Monitors student activity during passing time and lunch periods.
- Monitors the parking lot.
- Checks permit slips and passes and monitors students who are out of class or leaving campus.
- Reports any unusual situation to immediate supervisor; communicates with administration on the school environment.
- Verifies visitor’s registration to campus office.
- Monitors maintenance needs of buildings and grounds and reports such needs to the immediate supervisor.
- Monitors in-house suspension study hall and/or after-school detention center.
- Telephones parents regarding tardies, referrals and/or disciplinary matters.
- Checks video surveillance system for site monitoring and supervision.
- Coordinates with law enforcement as part of security measures to avert illegal activity at the site.
- Works with two-way radios.
- Averts potentially dangerous situations.
- Makes referrals to law enforcement personnel.
- Provides information on and interprets school regulations on discipline matters and assists in resolving related problems which may arise.
- Enters and retrieves data on a computerized student information system.
- Administers first aid to students as needed.
- Maintains records of first aid certification
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Methods of individual and group supervision over students.
- Interests, attitudes and emotional development of adolescents.
- Potential safety and security issues that could occur on school grounds (such as bullying, fighting, drugs, unauthorized people on school premises, etc.).
ABILITY TO:
- Work effectively with campus supervisors, students, parents, community members, school administrators and other staff members.
- Understand, work within, and provide information on school regulations and state and local laws.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency and tense situations.
- Describe events clearly in writing for required reports.
- Speak clearly and communicate effectively.
- Show sensitivity and understanding in working with students.
- Establish rapport with and earn respect of students to gain their cooperation and adherence to site rules and expectations for student behavior.
- Ability to learn district organization, operations, policies, and objectives as well as applicable sections of
Education Code pertaining to student conduct, behavior and discipline.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Supervise and monitor groups of students.
- Enter and retrieve data on a computerized student information system.
- Provide training and site orientation and coordinate activities of campus supervisor staff.
- Learn procedures and techniques of monitoring to ensure the safety and security of the school.
- Learn principles and practices of leading and coordinating the work of other adults.
- Learn school health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and patrol school grounds, including walking and standing for long periods of time, stooping, bending and kneeling.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any combination of experience and training which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above to successfully perform the job. A typical example would be high school graduation equivalency and two years of experience as a youth worker/counselor or a school campus supervisor. College coursework or other training and experience in human services, and/or the practices, techniques and application of security monitoring and enforcement, adolescent behavior and behavior modification techniques, and/or student supervision is highly desirable.
- Possession of CPR certificate and Red Cross Basic First Aid certificate within six months of hire and maintained thereafter as an ongoing condition of continued employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Speak, read, write, and understand sufficiently to successfully receive/provide information to/from students, supervisors, co-workers, the public, etc.
- Operate basic equipment such as the telephone, copier, computer, calculator, etc., except where incidental to the position.
- Sufficient strength and agility to perform physical tasks required by the position which includes frequent and prolonged standing and walking outside at a school site.
- Perform all essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Pay: $21.46 - $36.29 per hour
