Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Summer Intern at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois office.

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement is looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our dynamic Finance team as a Finance Summer Intern. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience and exposure to financial operations within a dynamic organization. This role is based in our headquarters in Evanston office and is a great opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in Finance.

What You’ll Learn And Achieve

As the Finance Summer Intern, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Analyze financial data, budget plans, and forecasting activities which provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Participate in monthly close meetings to gain insights on variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor capital and major project expenditures against planned budget.
  • Assist in project-based procure to pay transaction updates, including supplier data updates and onboarding documents.
  • Partake in supplier contract management review and document indexing.
  • Assist in updating Finance SharePoint sites or financial data in spreadsheets.
  • Support the collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret financial information and policies and procedures.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Education And Experience Requirements For The Role Include

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Available to work full-time during the internship period.
