Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a Civil/Highway-Heavy, aggregate, paving and site development contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. Ulland Brothers has operated in the construction industry for over 100 years. Ulland Brothers has an immediate opening for the Screed Operator on the main line asphalt crew. We are looking for dedicated and career-minded employees. This position offers great pay and union benefits.

This position requires travel throughout the state of MN with potential for available per diem. This is a safety sensitive position that requires drug testing.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

• Responsible for the efficient and working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance, as well as alerting the mechanic of any significant problems.
• Understand adjustments and settings so necessary changes can be made if needed to produce a quality mat finish.
• Adjust screed to get road profile and blemish free mat.
• Maintain proper head of material.
• Assist in job layout and have a thorough understanding of how the job is being paved.
• Work with Paver Operator to maintain consistent head of material and adjust as needed.
• Assist in setting auger speed and feed control sensor for paving screed.
• Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Good ability and knowledge in the operation and maintenance of such equipment as listed above. Required to perform repair and maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines.

ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:

• This position requires operating equipment in a safe manner.
• It is a requirement to follow instructions and meet set standards.
• This is inside and outside work in all types of environments, conditions, weather and seasons. Appropriate personal safety equipment is supplied.
• Due to the nature of the position, an Operator may be required to perform other duties throughout the course of a workday.
• Regular and timely attendance is essential and hours must conform to the company's operating hours.
• This is medium duty work requiring lifting; climbing and sitting. Crouching, or stooping and bending, full use of hand, arms, and legs and eye-hand coordination is essential. Reaching and feeling, overhead lifting, and repetitive motions are required: Talking and hearing; good eyesight (either naturally or with correction); and color discrimination are essential to satisfactory performance.
