About the Role:
The Draftsman at Ulrich Lifestyle Structures is a key contributor to the success of our projects, bridging the gap between design and construction. This role is integral in developing detailed project drawings, ensuring every aspect aligns with the design intent, structural integrity, budget, and build capabilities. Collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and operations teams, the Draftsman plays a pivotal role in crafting high-quality, innovative structures that meet client expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and operations to create construction details that balance design intent, structural integrity, budget constraints, and build feasibility from a variety of product divisions.
- Develop detailed and accurate design and construction drawings, coordinating components such as framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and cabinetry.
- Research materials specific to projects, ensuring compliance with design requirements and appropriateness for construction.
- Stay current with emerging materials and innovative construction techniques to enhance project outcomes.
- Produce complete, precise design and construction drawings, verifying details and dimensions for accuracy throughout the process.
- Manage and document change orders, ensuring updated plans reflect project modifications.
- Review and verify submittals, addressing requests for information promptly and accurately.
- Conduct material take-offs to generate and oversee an accurate Bill of Materials for each project.
- Partner with Designers and Project Managers to support engineering and material needs effectively.
- Work with Project Managers to improve quality and minimize issues.
- Actively participate in daily team huddles, in person or remotely, to foster communication and collaboration.
- Periodic factory visits for various reasons
- Maintain and improve full CAD library
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 2-5 years in CAD drafting for the residential building industry, preferably with experience in BIM modeling for construction projects.
- Proficient in construction techniques, with a strong understanding of coordinating technical details and dimensions.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in managing multiple priorities effectively.
- CAD software expertise, with a focus on residential building applications.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in a fast paced environment.
- Strong problem solving skills.
Work Environment:
- Cleburne Manufacturing Plant and Offices
- This is NOT a remote working position
- Monday-Friday with some Saturdays as needed
