Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
Position Overview
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for operating forklifts equipped with various lifting devices to handle, move, and organize products, equipment, and materials. This role also involves maintaining accurate inventory records, issuing materials, and supporting receiving operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment to transport, stack, and organize materials safely and efficiently.
- Position lifting devices under or around pallets, skids, or materials and move them to designated areas.
- Unload and stack materials, accurately recording weights and quantities.
- Maintain proper inventory levels on the production floor and issue materials as needed.
- Update inventory records in the computer system and ensure location accuracy.
- Identify, label, and store materials correctly.
- Support receiving operations, including acting as a backup for the Receiving Clerk during breaks.
- Perform cycle counts and maintain accurate bin locations in the inventory system.
- Conduct equipment maintenance, such as lubricating machinery and replacing gas tanks.
- Follow safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions.
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas and adhere to organizational policies.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve productivity and quality goals.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Shop Supervisor.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Flexibility to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills, including the ability to compute ratios and percentages.
- Familiarity with inventory software and basic data entry after training.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and resolve issues within standardized situations.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Forklift Certification (must obtain/maintain).
- 1-3 months of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting/moving of up to 100 pounds.
- Regular use of hands, standing, walking, and reaching; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Specific vision abilities, including the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, particles, and moderate noise levels.
- Frequent proximity to heavy machinery, vibration, and non-weather-related humid conditions.
- Occasional exposure to variable outdoor weather conditions.
