THE JOB:
We are seeking a petscare copy editor that will be responsible for reviewing and editing written content produced by a petscare center, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in communication materials like website copy, newsletters, client updates, and internal documents, by meticulously checking for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and adherence to the petscare's established style guidelines while maintaining a professional and informative tone appropriate for clients and caregivers.
Responsibilities:
Proofreading and editing:
Thoroughly review all written content for grammatical errors, typos, punctuation mistakes, and inconsistencies in style.
Fact-checking:
Verify information related to petscare policies, procedures, activities, and important dates for accuracy.
Style guide adherence:
Ensure all written content aligns with the petscare's established style guide regarding tone, voice, and formatting.
Clarity and readability:
Make necessary revisions to improve the clarity and flow of written content for clients to easily understand.
Collaboration with staff:
Work with petscare staff, including trainers and administrators, to gather information and ensure content accurately reflects petscare operations.
Content creation (may include):
Assist in writing new content like website updates, newsletters, or dog owners announcements as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in proofreading and copy editing with a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Familiarity with AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style
- Ability to conduct thorough fact-checking and research
- Experience in journalism, copywriting, and technical writing
- Proficient in word processing and creative writing techniques
- All candidates must reside in the USA or Canada
