Lab & Quality Technician

We are hiring a full-time Plastics Quality & Lab Lab Technician to perform various physical properties tests on plastic raw materials and finished products as required to support the manufacture of high-quality plastic sheet goods. Operates laboratory equipment in accordance with standardized procedures. Co-operates with all manufacturing departments as part of a comprehensive search for the causes of processing problems.

The Lab Technician has an average starting rate of up to $20.00 an hour (incl. overtime and shift differential if applicable) at our Portland, PA location. Portland is conveniently located along the Delaware Water Gap and within 30 minutes of Stroudsburg, Easton, Brodheadsville, Mt. Pocono, and Hackettstown, NJ.

• Performs ongoing laboratory and physical tests of dry blend batches as required to applicable standards.
• Performs troubleshooting on dry blend materials to determine the cause / causes of problems and recommends corrective measures.
• Take samples on the production line and test for density, color, etc. to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Performs ongoing color testing to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
• Interacts with the extrusion department and dry-blend department to communicate daily issues and pertinent information to supervisors and other employees as needed.
• Tests a variety of ingredients prior to use in the manufacturing process including resin additives, blending compounds, etc.
• Understands all materials utilized in the manufacturing operation.
• Understands certified materials and their use within the company.
• Sets up and operates all lab equipment for performing all laboratory and physical tests required.
• Performs tests on new formulas as needed.
• Maintains an inventory of all supplies needed for the lab.
• Completes appropriate logs and paperwork pertaining to the laboratory both manually and on the computer.
• Ensures housekeeping duties are performed in the work area.
• Follows all plant safety procedures in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
• Understands and follows all company policies, practices, and procedures.
• 2-week rotational 2
• 3 schedule : Sun, Wed, Thurs and Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat (36 hrs / 48 hrs)
• Night Shift schedule : 6 : 00 pm - 6 : 00 am
