Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, engineers, and provides technical support for the electrical equipment, which includes vacuum chamber machines, rollstock packaging machines, package labelers, and smokehouses.
- Collects data and feedback, evaluates, and designs new products and enhancements to existing products.
- Leads the efforts for product development, prototyping, testing, and product life cycle management (PLM).
- Develops the electrical and pneumatic schematics, electrical component specifications, and programs the PLCs, HMIs & other controllers.
- Work with planning, purchasing, and production to determine make/buy, research sourcing or manufacturing options, and estimate the production costs.
- Processes Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Releases and revises engineered products and bills of material in the engineering platforms and ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning).
- Creates design standards, specifications, engineering change notices, manuals, and work instructions to improve the assembly, operation, and maintenance of the products.
- Works with production and quality to address defective products, determine the root cause, and take corrective action.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
- Collaborates with sales, planning, purchasing, production, quality, service, and customers to ensure products operate safely and meet the customer's expectations.
Education and/ or Experience:
- B.S. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years' experience in industrial product design with PLC and HMI programming a plus
- Design experience in electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Schematics software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or DraftSight)
- Knowledge of pneumatics and vacuum systems a plus
- Design experience with industrial equipment and machinery is a plus.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to feel and manipulate, and requires the ability to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Due to the travel functions of this position, you are also subject to extreme temperature changes such as those found in warehouses, meat lockers, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
