Purpose of the Position:
The analyst supports UMA's internal corporate development team and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) efforts through all transaction phases, including M&A strategy, pipeline development, target screening, valuation, due diligence, and integration planning.

What You'll Do:

  • M&A strategy and process execution: Execute processes and tasks related to M&A initiatives, including conducting research and analysis on target companies, tracking pipeline activity, coordinating due diligence workstreams, and providing deal support.
  • Financial Modeling: Create and maintain financial models for acquisitions, and develop presentations to summarize and communicate analysis and findings.
  • Project management: Manage timelines, dependencies and deliverable development for key M&A and strategic projects.
  • Build External Relationships: Develop relationships and manage communications with external advisors and consultants.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to evaluate organizational needs, analyze data, and provide recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, finance, economics, or related area of study, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years' experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, corporate finance, strategy, business management, consulting, or related field.
  • Skills – excel, financial modeling, presentation skills, and influence.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Any advanced degree or equivalent experience, especially in business, statistics, finance, economics, or related area of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
  • CFA, CFP, FRM, FMVA, or related certifications.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills or abilities – investment banking or private equity, or experience in the private sector.

Compliance:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position, with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, ability to be on camera, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
