Position Description
Title: Program Director
Department: Education
Type: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Education
Summary:
The Full-Time Program Director is charged with coordinating and ensuring the smooth operation of their individual instructional departments so as to achieve a student retention rate that meets or exceeds accreditation standards and a placement rate that meets or exceeds accreditation standards of total graduates and ensure appropriate student satisfaction rates. Each Program Director is also expected to carry a teaching load as determined by the Director of Education in coordination with the Campus President. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for making recommendations to the Director of Education in the areas of planning, staffing, scheduling, supervising, curriculum improvement and professional development for his/her department. If the program has a clinical/externship component it is the responsibility of the Program Director to establish enough clinical/externship sites to meet the needs of the student population and monitor and maintain the student experience and records throughout this portion of the program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine departmental staff
- Assist in departmental recruitment efforts as determined by the Director of Education.
- Orient new departmental faculty members and train in program and techniques
- Assist with the evaluation of departmental faculty and staff
- Recommends professional development activities to Director of Education
- Instruct classes as assigned by the Director of Education
- Act as a substitute teacher as
- Propose a schedule of teaching assignments for courses being offered
- Maintains current syllabi and course material for all
- Supervise departmental faculty
- Supervise the planning, use, maintenance, and inventory of facilities and material assigned to the department.
- Schedule and conduct departmental
- Communicate with departmental faculty to obtain input and recommendations for the improvement of the school.
- Advise students and faculty members as needed to ensure successful operation of the department.
- Supervise and administer retention programs for the department to ensure retention meets or exceeds accreditation standards.
- Perform duties required of an Instructor as
- Cover make-up sessions as scheduled by the Director of Education
- Responsible for participation on the School Advisory
- Responsible for assisting with the coordination of graduation
- Responsible for promoting, preparing students to take the appropriate
- Assist in orchestration of Advisory Board and Curriculum Review Committee meetings as they relate to your program.
- Responsible for clinical site procurement if the program has a clinical/externship
- Monitor and maintain all student records, and experiences while on clinical/externship portion of the program if there is one.
- Ensure all timesheets for any clinical/externship component of the program are properly recorded, sent to the Corporate Registrar Department in a timely fashion.
- Ensure all competencies necessary to graduate are completed while students are on the clinical/externship component of their program if there is one.
- Co-facilitate periodic programmatic faculty meetings with Director of Education
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Education
- Mandatory attendance at school
Dental Assisting Requirements
- Current CDA license
- Minimum three years of experience in the field
- X-Ray License preferred
- Prior teaching experience or management experience
- Degree or certificate/diploma in subject area preferred
