Job Overview:
UMA Geotechnical Construction Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and management of engineering projects in the field and office. This position requires strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure project success, working on site. The Project Engineer will be responsible for job budgets, engineering, project management, and technical engineering principles and practices to support project objectives while ensuring compliance with geotechnical standards.
Duties:
- Conduct daily surveying checks, of grade and site assessments to gather data for project management and engineering.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, Office suite and GIS for reading design and maintaining documentation purposes.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation, demonstrating proficiency in technical writing, for the sr. engineer on the project.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules and timelines. filed testing of anchors using testing equipment, along with maintaining calibrations of all field-testing equipment.
- Perform calculations using Mathcad and other CAD tools to support design team. Monitor construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to plans and specifications, while preforming quality control activates like taking grout samples and specific gravity sampling
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors regarding project updates and requirements.
Experience:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant engineering software is highly desirable.
- Experience in land surveying is a plus. Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective collaboration.
- Familiarity with project scheduling techniques will be beneficial.
- Project Site located in Charlotte, NC, will need to travel to Colfax, NC for weekly production meetings.
Physical Demands:
- Work is primarily on site in the field, not in an office setting. work involves irregularities in schedule, overtime, and complex task
- Project Sites will change, and will require travel in the mid-Atlantic
- Lifting 75 pounds
- Climb/pull/lift, and standing up to 8 hours per day
