Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by coordinating, assessing, and delivering comprehensive nursing services.
Key Responsibilities:Patient & Family-Centered Care:
- Recognize and respect patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Engage patients and families in care planning and decision-making.
- Provide patient education tailored to comprehension levels and learning styles.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Monitor patient responses and adjust care plans as necessary.
Clinical Nursing Practice:
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
- Prioritize and address clinical problems using critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Administer medications and treatments as per licensure and policy guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and minimize risk of harm.
- Document patient care and outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Evidence-Based Practice & Quality Improvement:
- Integrate best practices, clinical expertise, and patient preferences in care delivery.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement projects.
- Apply standardized safety and quality measures in daily practice.
- Identify strategies to enhance patient outcomes and reduce medical errors.
- Report safety concerns, near misses, and errors promptly.
Technology & Informatics:
- Utilize healthcare technology to support decision-making and error reduction.
- Maintain the integrity and privacy of patient records.
- Respond to clinical decision support alerts effectively.
Communication, Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Foster open communication and teamwork among healthcare providers.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of patient care.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and escalate concerns as needed.
- Ensure smooth transitions through bedside reporting and rounding.
Leadership & Professionalism:
- Demonstrate integrity, consistency, and professionalism.
- Stay informed about nursing best practices and scope of practice regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training.
- Mentor and guide ancillary staff in patient care.
Systems-Based Practice:
- Follow healthcare system policies and procedures.
- Participate in unit rounds and patient hand-offs.
- Maintain high levels of patient satisfaction and quality care standards.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of 25 contact hours of continuing education per licensure period.
- Minimum of 2 hours in pain and symptom management training.
- Minimum of 1 hour in implicit bias training.
Skills:
- Strong nursing assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to respond efficiently to critical patient situations.
- Proficient in basic nursing and clinical procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Competency in electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare technology.
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
License & Certification:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
- Current CPR certification.
- Specialty certifications (as required by department or role).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Additional specialty certifications relevant to the role.
