As a Surgical Tech, you will play a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room, sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, and ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly. Your attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care and positive surgical outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical equipment and instruments
- Assist in positioning and draping the patient for the surgical procedure
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical assistant during procedures
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical process
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis
- Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room
- Clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeons and other team members during procedures
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times
- Provide support and comfort to patients before and after surgery
- Participate in continuous professional development and training
- Coordinate with supply chain and sterile processing departments for instrument availability
- Support the team in maintaining a safe and organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and patients
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology
- Familiarity with surgical instruments and equipment
- Ability to maintain a sterile field and adhere to aseptic technique
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/move patients
- Commitment to upholding patient safety and confidentiality
- Capacity to collaborate and function as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Adherence to professional and ethical standards
- Basic understanding of anatomy and physiology
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Current CPR certification
Salary : $35 - $40
