Assistant / Associate Professor Position in Computer Engineering (Tenure Track)

The Electric and Computer Engineering (ECE) department is seeking to hire a tenure-track Computer Engineering faculty member at the assistant / associate professor level with specializations including but not limited to smart edge devices and edge AI, AI / ML for security and reliability, and security and reliability for AI / ML at the edge, cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and human-computer interaction (wearable technology). The preferred candidate's research focus will be in interdisciplinary application areas such as securing critical infrastructure (e.g. power grid, water), smart cities, healthcare, robotics and automation, biomedical, marine, sustainable energy, and intelligent transportation systems. Applicants who have relevant research / dissertation experience that complements one or more of these areas is encouraged to apply.

The College of Engineering is comprised of six departments : Bioengineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer and Information Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics. We offer 8 undergraduate degree programs, 8 concentrations, 11 graduate programs, and 8 accelerated BS-MS programs that serve more than 1,500 students. Our mission is to prepare graduates to meet 21st-century technological challenges and improve the well-being of society; create new knowledge in engineering, technology, and bioengineering; and engage and develop students to become leaders in their fields through service and scholarship.

Duties

The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; implement inclusive, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse student population; advise undergraduate and graduate (MS & PhD) students; contribute to university and professional service; foster interdisciplinary collaborations; and actively engage in college and university diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have earned bachelor's and doctorate degrees in Electrical and Computer engineering or a closely related field at the time of appointment, be able to teach courses in relevant areas in computer engineering, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and scholarly research as well as diversity, equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates will have research experience in computer engineering or a related engineering field and teaching experience in higher education. Postdoctoral research in an interdisciplinary setting is highly desirable. We especially encourage applications from scholars historically underrepresented in science, mathematics, and engineering, including veterans and individuals with disabilities. We seek candidates who have demonstrated experience in efforts to increase the recruitment and retention of women and members of historically minoritized groups in engineering.

SALARY : $105,000.00 to $130,000.00
