About our Department :

8 East is a 14-bed locked, acute psychiatric unit located on the 8th floor of the University campus of University of Massachusetts Medical Center. This program provides acute clinical care to patients challenged by significant mental illness and co-morbid medical conditions and have or will need intense community support following discharge.
We are the largest provider of psychiatric services in central Massachusetts with over 400 faculty members who work in a variety of settings within UMass Memorial Health, the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, and the public sector.
The Department of Psychiatry has outstanding training programs which include 27 residents and fellows as well as 16 trainees. Our Psychiatry positions offer the opportunity for involvement in a full range of activities.

Responsibilities :

Under the direction of the Vice Chair, Adult Clinical Services for the Department of Psychiatry, the Medical Director of 8 East will provide psychiatric and medical supervision and direction to mental health and substance abuse services.

Provide medical care and psychiatric care to patients in the unit; provide departmental on-call services; and perform other work as required.

Qualifications :

Must hold a MD or DO degree and qualify for a Massachusetts license.

Be board certified or board eligible.
