Assistant County Counsel
SALARY : $12,037 / Month - Plus Excellent Benefits

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Serves as assistant to County Counsel, and will assist in serving as legal counsel to the Board of County Commissioners and Umatilla County. Advises County elected officials and directors on County related legal matters and civil proceedings. Performs legal research as necessary and represents the County before judicial and administrative bodies.
REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
- Doctorate of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school.
- Maintenance of membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar Association.
- Successfully pass an extensive legal background check.
- The person must possess a commitment to team work and a strong motivation and ability to work with different agencies and individuals.
- The person must have the ability to prioritize work and be able to work alone with little or no supervision at times.
- Ability to set forth findings of fact and conclusions of law in concise written form.
- Ability to respond appropriately to complex issues and questions raised in public meetings or hearings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills with knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
- Must possess the ability to interact with a diverse group of people and deal tactfully with County officials, court officers, and the general public.
- Ability to identify and analyze problems, weigh relevance and accuracy of information, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts, grievances, confrontations, or disagreements in a constructive manner to minimize negative impacts.
- Ability to show a commitment to serve the public ensuring actions meet public needs and align with organizational objectives and practices.
- This position maybe required to travel to multiple work sites and for special meetings, assignments, or other related duties outside of normal work hours as directed by the Commissioners.
- Maintenance of regular and reliable attendance is required.
- The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
- Current Driver License and ability to safely operate a passenger vehicle.
