SALARY:

I-$25.62/hr - Plus Excellent Benefits

II- $26.94/hr - Plus Excellent Benefits

Description:

Duties including but are not limited to operation, general maintenance and service of county trucks, pups, trailers and various County equipment associated with road/bridge maintenance and crushing operations. Transporting of equipment, general labor and any other job as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintenance II- Must possess a current valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License.
• Maintenance I *** - May be considered with possession of a current valid driver's license and must obtain a valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License within 12 months of employment.
• Must have considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, materials and procedures used in road construction and maintenance.
• The ability to perform strenuous manual tasks and to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions.
• Must be skilled in operation, maintenance and servicing various types of equipment such as that used by Umatilla County.
• During emergency situations such as flood or blizzard he/she must be willing to perform the job/task necessary as directed with available equipment during whatever shift or hours necessary.
• This is a safety sensitive position subject to satisfactory results of a pre-employment drug screen and ongoing DOT random testing once CDL is obtained.*** Qualified applicants for Maintenance I, pursuant to the job description, are required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) within 12 months of initial employment. Umatilla County agrees to pay the work-time and fees associated with the CDL driving school, one time on your behalf, to assist you in receiving your CDL in order to meet the essential requirements of this position. If for any reason, while in your initial 12 months of employment, you must repeat this program any work-time and associated fees will be at your own expense.This one-time schooling opportunity will be offered to qualified positions within the Umatilla County Public Works Department upon successful completion of all hiring contingencies, including background check and drug screen for this safety sensitive position.This offer is conditioned on remaining employed with the Umatilla County Public Works Department in this classification for a period of not less than twenty-four (24) months from the first of the month following the date of receiving the CDL, and repayment will be required if the individual leaves the position voluntarily within that time period.
