GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The individual will work directly with the Umatilla County Vegetation Manager surveying, monitoring, and treating noxious weeds throughout the county and assisting the Public Works Department on various projects throughout the year.
Herbicide treatments will be completed throughout the county on various municipalities, county, state, federal, and tribal lands.
Equipment will include but not limited to the use of mower, 4x4 manual pick-up, UTV, ATV, backpack sprayer and various hand tools. Assistance with drone pesticide application set up and tear down, mixing and loading, and survey operations.
The individual may assist the public works department with brush removal, traffic control, and various other duties when necessary
Upon hiring; if the individual does not have a public pesticide applicator license (PPA), they will receive a directly supervised trainee license from the Oregon Department of Agriculture. A PPA license with agricultural and ROW categories will be required within the first 6 months of employment. Study materials and training will be provided to pass the necessary tests to acquire the PPA with appropriate categories.
