The Role
Assembles precision components and sub-assemblies used in aerospace and industrial applications. Embraces and exemplifies the Umbra Group values of FIRST – Focus on the Customer, Innovation, Respect, Social Responsibility & Teamwork.
- Seeks out opportunities to learn about all areas of the shop floor and enthusiastically pursues ongoing self-development in leadership and technical skills that will enhance and continually improve products, processes, and people with a Focus on the Customer.
- Consult with management and/or others (e.g. engineering, planning, inspection) on process or job-related issue.
- Obtain and analyze sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions of finished workpiece and sequence of operations to perform assigned work.
- Use correct tools (e.g. arbor press, rivet gun, drill motor, power screwdriver, ratchet wrench) to install assembly elements such as bushings, fasteners, components, heli-coil inserts, etc.
- Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing, that there are no defects, and that the area around job is clean prior to putting up for inspection.
- Perform skilled assembly operations such as: shimming, fitting, trimming and aligning which may vary considerably from one assembly to another as with fairings and the mating of major assemblies establishing from blue-prints.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Use solvent to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly.
- Apply sealant, alodine, primer, adhesives and special finishes using the appropriate personal protective equipment. Handle and dispose of hazardous material in approved manner.

- Understanding of proper fit and feel of components such as gears, bearings, pistons, seals, fasteners, springs, valves, and electrical connectors.
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or completion of manufacturing-related vocational training.
- 1 to 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Work Environment
This position is in a standard manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The noise levels in the work environment are frequently moderate to loud. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required throughout the shop floor and hearing protection is recommended, with the exception of certain manufacturing areas, which require hearing protection at all times.

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb/balance/kneel, reach, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, with assistance. The employee may be required to work in loud environments. Employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods of time.
