Job Summary:The Patient Logistics Coordinator in the Regional Transfer Center is responsible for managing regional transfers and referrals from outlying regional healthcare facilities through a recorded phone line system
Reports to: Director of Patient Placement Center, Supervisor of Regional Transfer Center
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Document and monitor all regional transfer requests for admission, including complete and precise documentation of all events and issues related to the transfer request
- Follow all EMTALA requirements for incoming transfers
- Connect appropriate physicians through a recorded line, utilizing the Amion system for obtaining the appropriate physician on call
- Must have knowledge of patient medical conditions/treatment options to select the most appropriate physician/service for acceptance or consult
- Follow up on outstanding issues related to any open transfers; including information regarding active or inactive pending transfers during shift change report
- Professionally and effectively manage multiple phone lines and transfer requests
- All other related assigned duties
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of demonstrated use of basic medical terminology

Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Amion, Teletracking
- Effective communicator and problem solver
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to details
- Must be able to adapt to changes in workload and possess flexibility when faced with interruptions
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This role will interact closely with Patient Placement Center personnel, medical staff, regional facilities and other hospital departments
Physical Capabilities
Work involves prolonged sitting. Near visual acuity and good hearing are essential. Must be able to speak and hear through a headset.
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position works in a well-lighted, temperature -controlled environment. Work is performed in a low- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards. This position requires working in close proximity to other employees
