- Continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients by acting as a 1-1 physical sitter
- Observe potentially life threatening risk behaviors exhibited by suicidal patients; Verbally redirect patient behaviors while notifying nursing staff for assistance
- Monitor patient environment for potential safety hazards, including but not limited to sharp objects and items that could potentially be used for harm
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times
- Participate in hand-off information and patient behavior issues to the next shift. Provide proper notification and hand off of information when patient is cleared from suicidal watch

- High School Diploma or GEDRequired Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
- N / ASkills and Abilities
- Basic computer skills; Basic Microsoft Office skills necessary
- Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet competing deadlines
- Ability to extend and maintain discretion and confidentiality when working with patientsInteraction with Other Departments and Other RelationshipsThis role will interact closely with nursing unit, medical staff, patients, and other hospital departmentsPhysical CapabilitiesTalking and hearing is essential for communicating with patients and nursing staff. Physical demands include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking, and standingEnvironmental / Working ConditionsWork is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled environment.
